Challenge:
I was presented with the task of coming up with a design for a public records company, that wanted to support their customer in need of criminal background searches.
The goal of this project was to establish an identity for a company that was solely focused on enhanced criminal records and history.
- Design Process -
I approached this project, as a do most, by capturing a clear understanding of both the business and user goals. The Company I worked for (People Finders) owned a variety of sites, all providing public record data services.
The need for this particular site came about from a source of traffic identified that was specifically targeting criminal background checks and sex offender registers.
The queries and keywords used to conduct these backgrounds helped develop the nomenclature and IA. The rest of the design was inspired by a competitor analysis and a study on the current user behaviors and needs.
Desktop Login & Checkout - Cart, checkout, and account creation are combined for lower interaction cost and optimized processing.
- Mobile Design -
Mobile Search Results - Adaptable, data-dense grids to provide users an optimal experience on mobile devices.
Mobile Login & Checkout - Partitioned purchase options provide a better definition, while account login is split off for a stronger focus on conversion.
- Project Results -
This project was kicked off, researched, designed, and developed, within 4 months. The biggest hurdles to overcome were time constraints. I avoided major issues with this, by focusing specifically on the requirements, and always making sure the product we were building supported current user behavior.
